About the Bansko nomad community

Since Uwe Allgäuer and Matthias Zeitler arrived in Bansko and opened a coworking space in Dec 2016, Bansko is becoming more and more of a major digital nomad hub. Coworking Bansko is the epicenter of the community here and has over 100 members in the busiest months. A lot of nomads turned into Bansko residents. So it is time to open up our cozy mountain village to a larger audience and organize a festival to celebrate the remote life, make new connections, learn something from each other and have fun.

For one week we will turn Bansko into a celebration of what‘s great about location independence. Inspiring speakers will share their insights and stories, we will enjoy everything the mountains have to offer and create connections among all participants.
Corona has disrupted our plans for 2020 a lot. While we initially aimed for about 500 participants and had a great momentum before the lockdown happened, we will now be way less people - probably about 100. This means the program changes due to the reduced size of the event and also the whole atmosphere will be way more cozy. So this year is more of a prototype for next year's much bigger Bansko Nomad Fest. But I am sure everyone will have a great time enjoying the magic of Bansko with us - regardless how many nomads can join us.

We will have talks, workshops and presentations in the mornings and then use the afternoons for a range of fun activities in the nature around us. You will have a choice of actvities that are already included in your ticket like yoga, hiking, speed-dating etc. Or you can pay for additional premium activities like quad biking, a wine tour or mountain biking. The evenings are meant to network and enjoy tasty food as well as music. There will be also enough "free time" where you can enjoy Bansko with new found friends or just work on your projects.
Our focus is around Start Up, Scale Up, Live Up topics, so everyone will have engaging experiences regardless of where they are in their own journey.

Even though we initially had 80+ speakers confirmed, now due to Corona restrictions most speakers will come only next year to Bansko
Expect about 15-20 speakers this year, depending on who can travel. We still have several speakers who will only know very last minute if they can join us.
The tickets are valid for this year plus for 2021 to make up for this unexpected change.

Due to Corona travel restrictions the event in 2020 will be smaller than planned. So ticket prices are frozen at the discounted level and everyone will get a *free* ticket for 2021 in addition to attending this year's smaller event.

What are the Nomad Fest plans in case the Corona pandemic is getting worse?
It is hard to predice the future, but we believe that the Corona virus restrictions will be over before end of June (probably much earlier).
Why? Because governments around the world are taking drastic steps to fight this virus, have prioritized the development of treatments and vacines. And air borne virus infections generally do not spread easily in warmer weather and higher humidity.

However the pandemic is affeting travel plans this year, so we will have a smaller event in 2020 than originally planned as speakers, attendees, partners and volunteers travel is restricted.
So we decided that everyone who has a ticket for this year, will also be able to attend next year's event for free. There are no refunds on tickets, but you can do a name change.

We also have several add-ons to make it super easy and affordable to attend Bansko Nomad Fest 2020, you will be
able to book them by making a reservation now and then pay the remainder on-site.

We will use multiple indoor and outdoor venues in the Bansko Old Town, which is of great hotels and restaurants

Spend a week in the Bansko, the mountain capital of the Balkans. This cozy village is full of history, large mountains and a growing community of location independent freelancers and enterpreneurs.

Additional Details

We will be in touch with you after registration to coordinate your arrival, deal with any room preferences or upgrades and answer any questions you might have. There is also a private Facebook group for everyone that you will get access to.

To get to Bansko, please check Ryanair and Wizzair for cheap flight to Sofia. We will arrange airpot transfers and there is also a public bus from Sofia

Please note that Coworking Bansko has limited membership availability before and after the Nomad Fest. If you intend to stay longer in Bansko, then please sign-up for membership as early as possible to avoid being turned away because of capacity issues.
